How to become a member of the APESL?

Select your status and find out what grade of membership is best for you.

You will need to take courses that will allow you to become an engineer. Some options include taking CAPE courses or SATs focusing on maths and science and gaining an Associate Degree in engineering. You can find out more about your options at S.A.L.C.C. or College Board. Contact us at engineers.stlucia@gmail.com to find out which path is best for you.

Once you’ve completed your current studies, the next step toward becoming an engineer would be studying at university. Visit our careers section to find out more about the engineering disciplines available.

If you’re on your first full or part time undergraduate course (Meng, BEng, BSc, BASc), on a second undergraduate course or any post graduate course (MSc, PhD etc.), under the age of 30 and will have completed your course before you are 36, you should be eligible for free student membership. You’ll need to provide us with your personal details, details about the course you’re studying and the name of a person employed by your University or College who can confirm to APESL that you are attending or will be attending the course.

If you have completed an engineering degree, you will be eligible to become a Graduate Member. You will need to fill our application form and provide the following:

You will need signatures of 2 referees who must both be Members of the APESL

  • Details of your university / college and the course you sat
  • Certified copies of your qualification

If your qualification is in a foreign language, you will need to have it translated to English and certified as being a true and correct translation of your qualifications

During the application process, we will let you know whether your programme is accredited by an organization recognised by the Engineers Registration Board of Saint Lucia. If your programme is not accredited by an organization recognised by the Engineers Registration Board, you may need to obtain an academic assessment from an international professional engineering institution for your discipline to become a Registered Professional Engineer.
